For people who swim seriously

Counter-current swimming: swim for kilometres without ever turning

A long lap pool does not fit on every plot. A counter-current system creates a current in the water so you can swim continuously in one place, like a treadmill at the gym.

  • Adjustable current strength
  • Works in a pool of normal length
  • Ideal for training, physiotherapy and fitness

At a glance

A counter-current system is a powerful pump with a nozzle in one short wall. It draws water from the pool and pushes it back hard, creating a current you can set from gentle to demanding.

The dimensions you need

For counter-current swimming you do not need much length, but you do need free space in front of and behind your body. Usually a length of around 5–6 m and a depth of about 1.30 m are enough to swim comfortably without touching the floor or the wall.

Technician's tipThe nozzle goes in the middle of the short wall opposite the steps. Plan its position from the start, because it is not easy to move later.

How it goes into the wall

We cut the openings for the nozzle and the suction precisely in the steel walls, before the membrane. The membrane is sealed round the fittings with flanges, as with every inlet.

Power and noise

The system's pump only runs while you swim and is switched on by an air button at the edge. Consumption depends on how many hours you use it, not on the size of the pool. The main filter pump stays separate.

Not only for athletes

Many clients use it for gentle exercise, for rehabilitation after an injury, or simply so the children can play “against the wave”. Combined with warm water, the pool becomes a gym for the whole year.

Questions & answers

Can I add it to an existing pool?

In a membrane pool it can be done, but it means draining, opening the wall and local work on the membrane. It is much simpler to fit it from the start.

Is the strength adjustable?

Yes. Most systems have flow or speed control, so they suit beginners and strong swimmers alike.

Does it need its own plant room?

Its pump usually goes in the same plant room as the filter, on its own line.
